Reading Level: 2nd − 3rd Grade
Series: Monster and Boy

Monster and Boy are back for another adventure! And this time the best friends are in for a surprise: a sister surprise!

Ever since Monster (who sleeps under the bed) and Boy (who sleeps in the bed) met and became best friends, they've learned a lot about each other. So when Monster notices that Boy seems grumpy (Boy's mom has told him he's getting another baby sister), Monster decides to cheer his friend up. Together, they set out on a surprise adventure! But surprise: Boy's sister has tagged along. Together, they learn about how monster babies are born and get their names, before Boy and his sister find yet another surprise waiting for them back home. Told with a warm, cozy voice, Hannah Barnaby's story is brought to life with adorable two-color illustrations by Anoosha Syed.

Filled with adventure and humor, this is a perfect chapter book for sharing with kids just aging out of picture books and for newly independent readers.

Gr 1-3--James finds out that he has another little sister on the way and struggles accepting the new addition to his family. Luckily, his imaginary pet monster keeps him company and helps him come to terms with this big new change. James, his sister, and his pet monster take a surprise trip by going underneath his bed and are transported to an imaginary world. There, James learns more about how monster babies are born and named, and in the process finds himself learning to accept that he will be a big brother, again! When the three of them return from their journey, it's time to go to the hospital to meet their new baby sister. VERDICT This series addition is an enjoyable story for all children who are nervous before their younger siblings arrive, and for fans of "Monster and Boy."
