A New Home for Fox
Reading Level: 2nd − 3rd Grade
A great book about prejudice and being open to new neighbors, friends, and experiences. It's also a conversation starter about the immigrant and refugee experience. For brave little readers ages 5 years and up. After fleeing his home, Fox arrives in a new forest. Tired and looking for a friend, Fox knocks on the first door he sees. Will Fox make a new friend?

Review quotes

One day Fox gets chased out of his home by some dogs, and needs to find a new home but the animals in the forest aren't very welcoming. I know this is a story about prejudice, but I think it would have been a better message to tell children that all people are welcome and deserving of love and acceptance when they show up rather than tying Fox's acceptance to saving the animals. The illustrations are amazing. They are so gorgeous and colorful and really make the book. My favorite was Fox with the flower. - Gilbert Public Schools

I liked this book. It made a good read aloud book for my youngest child. The story is simple, Fox gets displaced and seeks out friends and a new place to call his own. The animals are drawn with a cute style which means that children identify with them quickly. I found the story easy for children to relate to, the emotions Fox felt when he missed his home and couldn't find friends. - Hyde Park Primary and Secondary schools

Ellen Delange
Ellen DeLange has been fascinated by picture books ever since she was a child growing up in the Netherlands. In the attic of her home, she assembled a small library and shared her collection with friends and family. As an adult, she started traveling and expanded her library with picture books from all over the world. Ellen also enjoyed inventing her own stories and was encouraged by her daughter to write her first picture book, A Story with a Tale. Ellen has a doctorate in medical sciences and currently lives in Canada where she loves to walk in the woods with her Jack Russell terriers, drink lots of tea after a busy day, and sail on the ocean to clear her mind.

I am also a graphic designer and worked for many years with nonfiction- and textbooks for school. I've studied art history, visual communication, illustration, and design theory at university and art school, I also went to part-time photography school. I like to constantly evolve as an artist and take art classes as often as possible.
