Description

From the New York Times and USA Today Bestselling How to Catch series comes a new outdoor adventure--do YOU have what it takes to catch BIGFOOT?

Join the How to Catch Kids on a camping trip of epic proportions: Bigfoot is on the loose, and the search for Sasquatch is on! But what if Bigfoot is not actually a scary, hairy beast? It's up to YOU and the Catch Club Kids to find out! Filled with adventurous hijinks and STEAM concepts, this hilarious picture book is perfect for parents, educators, cryptid lovers, and readers ages 4-10.

What is a Bigfoot Begone?! I don't like the sound of that.

These kids are not playing around. I preferred the trap with the hat.

Gr 1-3--For their zillionth outing, the diverse "How to Catch" gang hits the woods for a camping trip and efforts to snare a wary Bigfoot. In the hamfisted verse fans have grown to love, or at least tolerate, the cryptid assumes narrative duties: "Uh-oh, this cannot be good./ They all look pretty freaked out./ S'mores or not, it's time to run./ Of this I have no doubt." As the kids contrive an increasingly elaborate series of traps, all of which fail in turn, the furry forager--always, except once, seen only from behind in the illustrations or as flashes of shaggy hands or feet--fills a big basket with woodsy provender for his family: "Gee whiz, this stuff is getting HEAVY, / wish I could just do takeout!" But what makes his own offspring caper in delight at the close is the cooler full of yummy snacks and desserts that the kids leave behind. VERDICT Doesn't exactly promote a paleo, or even nutritious, diet, but features enough silly bits to keep fans, at least, from examining the series premise too critically.--John Peters
