Clydeo is a food-loving Schnauzer who loves to bake for his family.Upon his uncle's request, he decides to bake peanut butter cookies. However, he has never had peanut butter. Clydeo tries it and is shocked by its stickiness. He tries asking for help to get unstuck, but most of his extended family does not understand what he is trying to explain. Finally, his mom understands and gets him unstuck. Clydeo decides to change plans and make delicious sugar cookies instead. Lovely illustrations splendidly complement the text: the adorable Clydeo is clearly depicted with lots of expressions and emotions that will help early readers understand key moments. Each member of Clydeo's family has a distinct design that shows their personality, alludes to their age, and features their interests. While it is a funny story, readers can learn lessons on how different family members can have their own interests and style, and the importance of asking for help from people you trust. VERDICT This funny story is perfect for young readers who love stories about dogs, food, and families. A great addition to early reader sections.
