Gr 1-3--Jamie and Tess are preparing for the grand opening of a dinosaur exhibit in the museum on the ground floor of Jamie's lighthouse home. The show's feature is a full skeleton of the Edmontosaurus. Jamie and Tess, who have discovered a secret portal to the Cretaceous Period, decide to travel back and try to spot a real Edmontosaurus before the ceremony starts. The friends use their wits and their digital connections with The Dinosaur Club (other kid dino experts from around the world) to navigate a slew of dangers, including a meteor shower and a dinosaur stampede, and make it back to present day just in time for the exhibit's opening. This is the 11th volume in the "Dinosaur Club" series, which feels a bit like a dinosaurs-only version of the "Magic Tree House" series. Each spread has half- or whole-page grayscale drawings. Back matter includes a time line, dinosaur facts, a quiz, and a glossary. A few bits of British English vocabulary may require explaining. VERDICT Recommended where previous books in the series are popular.--Rachel Owens
