As Greg's mom tries valiantly to engage everyone in stifling lighthouse tours and heated board game nights, the trip quickly devolves into a literal hot mess of sisterly squabbles, last-ditch sleeping arrangements, food fights, and even a family trip to jail. Kinney's trademark illustrations add comedic subtext to Greg's hapless stream-of-consciousness narration, and readers will both laugh at and sympathize with his plight. Additionally, readers will find plenty of laughs in familiar chaos agents like Uncle Gary, Rodney, and the twins. There's nothing particularly groundbreaking in this latest installment, but why "mess" with a good thing? Kids will be excited to read about Greg's latest woes.

Great book to read if you like diary of a wimpy kid
I recommend this book if you like other books from the diary of a wimpy kid series.If you've never read a diary of a wimpy kid book there are like a family/friend and school related. This is one of the newer books as well. The only negative thing I have to say about this is it got kinda boring for too long once.But I would go with it for sure! I hope this helps!!

Funny, Mysterious, and lots of ridiculous situations
I really enjoyed this book! It was fun learning more about Gregory's family drama and history. Grandma sure was hiding a big secret! Can't wait to see what's next for the Heffley Family!! OvO
