Description

Kayla Miller, the New York Times bestselling author-illustrator of Click, Camp, Act, Clash, and Crunch and co-author of Besties returns with a new Olive story! Olive is less-than-excited to be spending Spring Break stuck with her dad...will she be able to make the most of her trip, or will everything break apart?

Spring Break is full of possibilities...but not for Olive. This year, Olive is leaving her friends and all of their exciting vacation plans behind to visit her dad at his new apartment in the city.

Goober is thrilled to spend a whole week with their father and has a long list of activities for their time together. Olive, on the other hand, still remembers the hurt of their dad moving halfway across the world. She would rather spend time with her friend Bree or scrolling through her new phone to keep up with everything she's missing back home than catch up with him.

As the week winds on, the normally easygoing Olive finds feelings of loneliness and resentment throwing her out of whack. Is there any hope of salvaging the visit--or will Olive's Spring Break be a Spring Bust?

School Library Journal

Gr 6-8--In this novel, part of Miller's "Click" series, Olive is being forced to spend spring break with her dad rather than with her friends and enjoying all the exciting adventures they had planned. Olive is not happy, but her brother Goober is psyched to be getting more quality time with their dad. Olive is still reeling from the fact that her father moved all the way to New Zealand and is struggling to forgive him. On top of that, she really would much rather be watching movie marathons, camping, skateboarding, and enjoying the world of social media on her new phone instead of spending it with Goober and her dad. As in Miller's other books, the emotions Olive experiences are earnest, understandable, and relatable. This book can be read as a stand-alone, but it's worth reading the whole series and following Olive's character development. The illustrations are playful and lively; characters are full of color and definition. VERDICT Miller delivers another heartfelt and thoughtful tale of finding forgiveness, embracing change, and being in the moment.--Cat Miserendino
