The color palette is of calming pastels with several babies' room variations on pink, blue, and green. Page designs vary, keeping things interesting, as does the rhyming text with a pleasant lilt when read out loud. The things to count are occasionally unconventional, inviting further conversation: arms for hugging, a kiss, friends, stars, colors, food, seedlings, and two eyes for the "precious gift of sight."
