Biscuit's Valentine's Day (Biscuit)

Biscuit, the adorable, gold-colored pup, and his young owner are trying to get ready for Valentine’s Day. Well, the little girl is trying. Biscuit is more interested in pulling ribbon and sniffing around the cookies at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. This simple lift-the-flap book invites children to see what Biscuit is up to, whether it’s bringing the ball of ribbon to Daisy the cat or receiving a red balloon from Puddles the dog. The ending falls a little flat; even so, many young children will enjoy the simple action and Schories’ appealing pictures. Use this as a read-alone for new readers, too. — Ilene Cooper
