School Library Journal

A collection of poetry that incorporates the many ways different families celebrate dear old dad on Father's Day. A spread in the beginning lists some ways different parts of the world refer to dad. Young readers will enjoy the poetic play of words, and older readers will hear the undercurrent of how much dads do without their children really knowing. The rhythm of the poems lend to a fun read aloud, and the diverse families Stansfield adds through illustration brings the fun to life. A spread with the poem "Dad Jokes" shares several "bad" dad jokes that readers may add to their repertoire. Readers will enjoy this simple book and undoubtedly take a trip down memory lane, exploring things their own father figures do or did. VERDICT A fun addition to the poetry section of early elementary libraries.
