Kathryn Jackson

Kathryn Jackson wrote hundreds of lively, witty stories for Golden Books, most of which were coauthored with her husband, Byron. The Saggy Baggy Elephant is one of the pair's most famous titles. Golden Books that Kathryn Jackson wrote on her own include Tawny Scrawny Lion, Nurse Nancy, Pantaloon, Richard Scarry's The Animals' Merry Christmas, and Richard Scarry's A Story a Day: 365 Stories and Rhymes.

Martin Provensen (1916-1987) and his wife, Alice, have illustrated more than 50 books for children, including An Owl and Three Pussycats, The Year at Maple Hill Farm, and numerous Little Golden Books including The Color Kittens and Katie the Kitten. In 1984, they won the Caldecott Medal for The Glorious Fight, which they wrote and illustrated together.

Alice Provensen and her husband, Martin, have illustrated more than 50 fabulous books for children, including A Visit to William Blake's Inn, Our Animal Friends at Maple Hill Farm, and numerous Little Golden Books including The Color Kittens and Katie the Kitten. They won the Caldecott Medal for The Glorious Fight in 1984. She lives in San Clemente, California.
