DR. BILL LAMP, a Nebraska native and University of Maryland professor, became an entomologist the day he discovered aquatic insects in the headwaters of the Mississippi River. Though he has been bitten by hellgrammites, stabbed by tabanid larvae, and stung by vespid wasps, the amazing and intricate behaviors of insects keep Bill exploring new habitats and species. With more than 90 publications on aquatic and pest insect ecology, Bill enjoys sharing his enthusiasm for entomology with his wonderful students, wife, children, and grandchildren.
