This original DC Comics picture book explores the morning routine of a smiling brown-skinned boy who adores Superman. Taking advantage of comic book--style panels, the illustrations are spread across two pages and feature Superman (leaping over a tall building) and the enthusiastic preschooler (leaping out of bed). Young readers will chuckle, as will their caregivers, when the child has to call upon his courage to face his greatest weakness: kryptonite green toothpaste. Illustrations that appear to be digitally created are full of movement and zest, matching the chipper tone of this breezy text.
