Starred Review

Elmer Elevator goes to Wild Island to rescue a baby dragon. The boy's encounters with boars, tigers, lions, monkeys, crocodiles, a gorilla, and a rhinoceros make a delicious tale of adventure, full of narrow escapes and unexpected drama. The design of this Newbery Honor book has been slightly updated for its sixtieth anniversary.
