Starred Review

PreS-Gr 2—Flaps reveal hares, fox, otter, and more, as readers turn the pages and witness winter turn to spring, then to summer, and fall. The palette in these pages changes dramatically, helping small children link color and season, weather and change. The haiku is simple and accessible but still lyrical: "Warm breezes blowing, pond open for summer fun—slip, slide, belly ride!" VERDICT A quiet book that introduces so much in an elegant fashion; poetry that is also lovely natural science.—Kimberly Olson Fakih
