Review quotes

Helena Harastová and Jana Sedláčková's Atlas of Cats features
appealing and fun cat drawings by Giulia Lombardo that bring to life cat
stories. These explore the natural history of felines in an attractive
combination that enlivens the concept of the bedtime story with a cat-centric
focus. The study reveals different cat breeds that hold different temperaments
and personalities, reviewing each cat's appearance, evolution over the
centuries, and place in human affairs. The writing is notably evocative and
lively, as in the description of the Ragdoll cat: "Despite my name, I'm a
wild giant. No toy factor would produce a creature with such a silky coat and
such dazzling blue eyes as mine!" Kids learning about cats will relish
this fun approach. - Donovans Literary Services

This book is so adorable! I love the attractive design and
the sweet artwork. Every page is so colorful, and all the kitties are so cute! Although
there is a lot of information in this book, the writing style makes it fun and
interesting. Each page is broken up into smaller sections with easy-to-read
paragraphs that keep your attention. There is some really good information in
this book, and it is also interesting to read about the history of cats. I
loved reading about the way different cat breeds were discovered or developed
throughout history. - Luminous Libro
The Atlas of Cats is a charming hardcover volume that
teaches young readers about different breeds of cats, and more - how cats jump,
world-record setting cats, and fascinating true-life cat stories in fun-to-read
"Meow News" sections. It should be noted that The Atlas of Cats
primarily focuses upon the characteristics of individual cat breeds, and isn't
meant to substitute for a dedicated pet care guide. Whimsical, hand-drawn color
illustrations add a vibrant touch to this delightful book; young and old cat
lovers alike will enjoy paging through it from cover to cover. - Midwest

I would recommend this to any child who loves cats or for
those looking to discover which cat breed they want as their next pet. If
you're looking for it, this book will have it. It's a unique take on educating
people about the different breeds of cats and the formatting itself easily gets
five stars alone. - YA Books Central

"When I was a kid, I wanted this kind of book. I remember specifically searching for this book, in fact, and coming up with nothing. Pretty much, I wanted a title that could systematically tell me about all the different cat breeds out there. And while I'm sure we've seen such somewhat similar books in the past, there's something so nice about this flurry of fluffy facts."-Elizabeth Bird, School Library Journal

Atlas of Cats is an excellent entertaining reference of cat
breeds. The book features a huge variety of breeds, fun facts, and stories
about famous cats throughout history. The illustrations are adorable and
whimsical. A perfect book for a young cat lover! - Mara L, Reviewer
Super cute book for cat loving children! Lots of facts for
kids and adults to learn about cats. love this one and would love to see one
with dog facts too! - NetGalley
Atlas of Cats is a fun and interesting non-fiction book for
young cat lovers! The book covers many different breeds of cat and what makes
them unique. There are also some fun features such as "Meow News"
articles, world records and lots of funny and interesting pictures. Some of the
non-fiction text features include: text boxes, diagrams, lists, legends,
charts/tables, arrows, labels, bold text and headings. The fonts, pictures and
random facts will definitely keep the interest of young readers. While there is
a lot of text on each page and over 100 pages, I think that some children would
enjoy looking at the pictures or reading this book with a friend or family
member. I think this book would be best suited for children in the 8-11 range,
but some younger or older kids may enjoy it as well. - Angie k, Educator

This book is absolutely adorable. Any cat lover kid will dig
this up! The illustrations are adorable, the breed information is accurate

with my kids! - Ipek A, Reviewer
The characteristics of twenty-five different breeds of cats
is found here which include temperament, appearance, traits and history.
Following each breed is a section called Meow News which illustrates a famous
cat of that breed. Cat Tail language will let you know what your cat is telling
you if its tail is in one of six positions.
Each boldly-titled fact is accompanied by an illustration and
synopsis. Brightly-colored illustrations
fill the pages. The last two pages
include celebrity cats, how to care for a cat and cat record holders. A fascinating and informative tribute to our feline
friends. - Youth Services Book Review
This is an amazing book for cat lovers - I like a cat but
this is for the tier of people who like a cat more than me! Tons of info for
the serious enthusiast. - Elizabeth S, Bookseller

I have always been a cat lover. I have had several cats in
my life and I have loved them all so much. One of my cats was even a life saver
for me. I had epilepsy and when I would have seizures my cat would run and jump
on my parents and meow constantly until they came to check on me. Cat's are so
amazing. They are smart, beautiful, perfect comic relief, and so sweet and
sassy. If you love cats like I do then you will love this adorable book. It
tells all about different kinds of cats. It does a wonderful job explaining the
different cats personalities, what they look like, including different color
variations, the different facial expressions and tail movements they have and
the life expectancy of the cats. The illustrations are adorable and colorful.
This is the perfect book for cat lovers of all ages. - Whitney H,
