Each one is hidden behind a flap with a friend. This adds the opportunity to point out the different animals and their sounds. As each chick is found, they join the search and are labeled with brightly colored numerals to help in the counting process. The story is simple, but flaps are always popular with preschoolers, and the colorful, boldly outlined illustrations highlight the numbers.
