"A robot is made of so many parts," begins this modest board book with movable components. Each spread focuses on a specific feature of a humble red robot that looks very DIY. The robot has "one mouth" and "a pair of eyes," all fashioned from cardboard gears that rotate, and two forklike arms, one of which swings in a circle. But "a robot is more than just a pile of parts," Brown writes, and a final spread reveals a gently tarnished blue heart, with rotating cogs like the inside of a mechanical clock. It's an elegantly simple design with care paid to every detail.
